Land Life - Part II - A Short Journey (September 2014)
Recently I had a much anticipated week of travelling with my sister. We finally found a time to catch up in person, re-connect and explore the Island. Too soon our week of sight-seeing, bed and breakfasts, attending the theatre, riding ferries, shopping in markets, observing elusive hummingbirds and deer, came to a close.
As 'the Admiral" I had to ensure we had a 'nautical' component in our travels whenever possible. Our jaunt began by boarding the Brentwood Bay - Mill Bay Ferry across Saanich Inlet. Driving off the vessel, we continued on to Duncan - the City of Totems, where we explored the local community markets and parks. A short drive took us on to Chemainus, where we spent two nights at a cheery bed and breakfast. There was time to visit the well known murals and attend a theatre production of Les Miserables. That stay was followed by a 'sailing' on the Crofton to Vesuvius ferry, disembarking on Saltspring Island. We spent several days based at a delightful self-catered cottage near Beaver Lake. The time was of course too short; Soon we were departing from Fulford Harbour to Swartz Bay and Sidney! A reminder to self and the Captain: it has been too long since INTREPID II sailed these home waters!

Our 'life on land' brings us many things we'd like to share with followers: whether it is a particularly sweet photo of our cats, the delights of seeing the buds and flowers in our garden, or the results of having put out a bird feeder to assist the feathered flock over a particularly cold West Coast winter.
